Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton has been a fierce advocate for gun safety in Congress: voting for H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, and H.R. 1112, the Enhance Background Checks Act to close the “Charleston loophole.” Wexton has also spoken out strongly in favor of closing the “boyfriend loophole,” voting for the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act. After her swearing in, the first House organization Wexton joined was the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force. In Congress, Wexton has cosponsored legislation to ban assault weapons, keep guns out of the hands of abusers and stalkers, and fund federal research on gun violence.
