Wexton Secures Nearly $15 Million For Local Projects in Government Funding Package

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) announced $14,996,550 in Community Project Funding that she secured for Virginia’s 10th District in the 2024 spending bills. This funding, included in the first of the appropriations government funding packages set to be voted on this week, responds directly to some of the most pressing needs and priorities in the 10th District.

“I’m proud to successfully deliver nearly $15 million for key local priorities including projects like enhanced domestic violence support services, affordable housing for veterans, transportation improvement initiatives to reduce congestion and increase safety, and new expanded resources to help those who are experiencing mental health crises,” said Congresswoman Wexton. “As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I’ve been a vocal advocate for Virginia and worked across the aisle to meet the needs of every community in our district. I look forward to the ways that these federal investments will make Virginians healthier, safer, and stronger.” 

Wexton championed funding for the following projects that will directly benefit Virginia’s 10th District residents. These include:

Loudoun County

  • $4,116,279 for the Loudoun County Crisis Receiving Center to support the design and construction of a new center to treat and provide services for those experiencing a mental health crisis
  • $1,334,757 for Transite Drinking Water and Sewer Line Replacement to address known potential public health issues in drinking water and wastewater lines in the Town of Lovettsville
  • $1,000,000 for the LAWS Domestic Violence Shelter to help expand shelter services and capacity for domestic violence survivors
  • $1,000,000 for the Route 50 and Loudoun County Parkway Interchange to provide for the development of a new interchange and pedestrian pathway to reduce congestion and improve driver, cyclist, and pedestrian safety
  • $500,000 for the Washington Old Dominion Trail Lighting to enhance safety for pedestrians using the trail in Leesburg

Prince William County, Manassas City, and Manassas Park City

  • $1,050,000 for the Mathis Corridor Revitalization Project to revitalize the corridor through infrastructure improvements that will increase safety, reduce congestion, and renew economic viability in Manassas
  • $963,000 for the Public Safety Communications 911 Call Handling System to modernize Prince William County’s 911 call handling capabilities to improve public safety
  • $959,757 for the Bird Sanctuary Stream Restoration Project to reduce pollutants from the City of Manassas Park into the Chesapeake Bay Watershed

Fauquier County

  • $1,000,000 for the Hero's Bridge Village to fund the construction of new affordable housing and supportive services for veterans in Fauquier County
  • $959,757 for the Opal Water System Project to expand public water access in Fauquier County

Fairfax County

  • $963,000 for the Interstellar Dreams Space Center to establish an interdisciplinary center at George Mason University focused on modern space exploration and private space industry advances
  • $500,000 for the Compton Road Shared-Use Path to add a bicycle/pedestrian path along Compton Road in Fairfax County

Virginia At-Large

  • $650,000 for the Educating the NASA STEM Workforce Pipeline to boost the highly-trained STEM workforce and education pipeline in Virginia at Old Dominion University
