Wexton Announces Winner of 2023 Congressional App Challenge for VA-10

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) announced the winner of the 2023 Congressional App Challenge from Virginia’s 10th District: Scribe, designed by Arjun Babla.

“The ingenuity, passion, and creativity of the young Virginians participating in the Congressional App Challenge never fails to amaze me,” said Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton. “I am excited to congratulate Arjun Babla as the winner of this year’s contest for his impressive and thoughtful app that leverages artificial intelligence to aid students and professionals with note taking. Arjun's talents have made his community proud, and I look forward to his design representing Virginia’s 10th District against other winners from across the country.”

Sribe allows users to record in person or virtual conversations and produces summaries of the interactions. The app generates a transcript and then synthesizes key points, while allowing users to ask the AI, powered by ChatGPT, questions or to elaborate further.

The Congressional App Challenge was created in 2013 with the mission to inspire, include, and innovate student efforts in STEM and computer science. Over the past nine years, the competition has reached remarkable levels of urban, suburban, and rural participation and participation from underrepresented communities. Winning apps will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building and featured on the House of Representatives’ website, House.gov. Students from winning teams from each participating district are invited to #HouseofCode Capitol Hill Reception, where they can demo their apps.
