Wexton Announces Over $7.3 Million for Local Airport Upgrades

Leesburg, VA – Today, Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton announced $7,367,377 in new grants for airports in Virginia’s 10th District from the Airport Improvement Program: $4,018,500 for apron rehabilitation at Leesburg Executive Airport; and $3,348,877 for taxiway reconstruction at Manassas Regional Airport. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law provided $15 billion for airport related projects, including through AIP grants.

“I’m proud that this federal funding is coming to Virginia’s 10th District to help with upgrade and upkeep of our local airports,” said Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton. “The major boost in funding delivered through our Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is making more long-awaited projects like these possible across Virginia and the country. I look forward to continuing to help our communities make the most of this once-in-a-generation federal infrastructure investment.”

The Airport Improvement Program (AIP) provides grants for the planning and development of public-use airports for planning and capital projects such as runways, taxiways, airport signage, airport lighting, and airport markings, and those improvements related to enhancing airport safety, capacity, security, and civil rights compliance.
