Wexton Applauds Announcement of Federal Funding for George Washington Memorial Parkway Repairs

Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) issued the following statement on today’s announcement that a $161 million contract was awarded to rehabilitate the northern section of the George Washington Memorial Parkway (Spout Run to Interstate 495), the largest investment so far from the Great American Outdoors Act:

“This is incredible news for Northern Virginia!

“I've long advocated for these much-needed repairs to the GW Parkway, and I'm proud that $161 million in federal funding from our bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act is helping get the job done to upgrade this key commuter route for our region.

“With the additional billions of dollars in federal funding that’s on the way thanks to our bipartisan infrastructure law, we’ll ensure all of our roadways, bridges, and transit systems meet the needs of Virginians.”

The bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act was signed into law last year to address deferred maintenance costs at National Park sites and create and support jobs.
