Ahead of Thanksgiving, Child Tax Credit Put $38.6 Million in Tax Cuts Back in Virginia-10 Families’ Pockets

Child Tax Credit tax cuts are helping hardworking families afford gas, groceries in time for the holiday

Sterling, VA -- Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) released a new report from the Joint Economic Committee today estimating that 103,000 Child Tax Credit monthly tax cuts were sent to families in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District the week before Thanksgiving. A total of $38.6 million in tax cuts went back in the pockets of hardworking Virginia-10 families, covering 154,000 district children in November.

“As families manage holiday season expenses, the Child Tax Credit tax cuts are putting more money back into their pockets,” said Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton. “The November payments delivered hundreds of dollars to tens of thousands of hardworking Virginians the week before Thanksgiving that will help them pay for groceries, gas, and travel costs to enjoy the holiday with their families after a difficult year.”

Statewide, 941,000 monthly tax cuts went to families in November for a total of $396.9 million. The average tax cut was $422.

Nationwide, the Treasury Department has distributed nearly $16 billion to the hardworking families of over 61 million children.
