Rep. Wexton Applauds 23 Virginia-10 HIRE Vets Medallion Award Recipients for Their Commitment to Veteran Employment
Sterling, VA,
November 11, 2021
Sterling, VA -- Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) today announced that 23 Virginia-10 employers were recognized by the Department of Labor (DOL) for their contributions to veteran employment. The program was created under the bipartisan Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans (HIRE Vets) Act, which established a recognition program within DOL to award employers that make veterans hiring, retention, and career development a priority. “Congratulations to the local employers who have been recognized for their outstanding work to hire and retain Virginia veterans,” said Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton. “Our veterans have valuable skills and discipline from their military service, and these employers are helping make their transition to civilian life seamless by providing a path to the job that’s right for each veteran. I’m proud that our district is home to so many employers who are going above and beyond to support our veterans, and I will continue to fight for the needs of veterans and their families in Congress.” Virginia-10 recipients of the 2021 HIRE Vets Medallion Program Award include:
The award is given to employers that meet certain criteria, including: what percentage of new hires, or the overall workforce, is made up of veterans; what types of training and leadership development opportunities are made available; what other benefits and resources are offered, such as tuition assistance; and other factors that demonstrate a commitment to supporting veterans throughout their post-military careers.
