Child Tax Credit Delivered $38.1 Million in Tax Cuts for Virginia-10 Families in October

Sterling, VA -- Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) released a new report from the Joint Economic Committee today estimating that 103,000 Child Tax Credit monthly tax cuts were sent to families in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District in October. A total of $38.1 million in tax cuts went back in the pockets of hardworking VA-10 families.

Statewide, 937,000 monthly tax cuts went to families in October for a total of $391.9 million. The average tax cut per household was $418.

Nationwide, the Joint Economic Committee estimates the Child Tax Credit tax cuts are pumping $19.3 billion into local economies each month, supporting local jobs and businesses.

“The expansion of the Child Tax Credit that I supported in the American Rescue Plan is putting money back into the pockets of Virginia families,” said Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton. “For the past four months, thousands of families in our district have received direct payments through this tax cut which they have put towards child care, school expenses, and paying off debt. I’m proud that we’re preparing to extend this major tax cut as part of the Build Back Better plan, which will continue to ease the financial burdens that are weighing down families during this COVID pandemic.”
