Congresswoman Wexton On Attorney General Barr's Summary of the Mueller Report

In response to the release of Attorney General Bill Barr's summary of the Mueller Report, Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton issued the following statement:

"The United States House of Representatives voted unanimously, 420-0, urging the Special Counsel and Attorney General to make the Mueller Report public to the fullest extent of the law.

"The full report and underlying documents must be made public without further delay. The American people paid for this investigation, they should be able to make their own determinations about the report rather than rely on the conclusions of a political appointee.

"Congress is a separate and co-equal branch of government tasked with our own independent mandate to safeguard the constitution and act as a check and balance against abuses of power. For Congress to be able to properly conduct oversight of any issues the Mueller Report may raise, the underlying documents and full report must be released.

"As a former prosecutor, I thank the Special Counsel and his team for their tireless efforts to discover the truth and safeguard our democratic institutions from corruption. Their efforts resulted in the public indictment of 34 individuals, 3 companies, 7 guilty pleas and one conviction following a jury trial. They should be commended for their work."
