Help is Here: Wexton Announces $9.46 Billion in Rescue Payments Have Gone to Hardworking Virginians This Year

Wexton Helped Secure Rescue Payments as Part of the American Rescue Plan

Sterling, VA -- Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) announced today that hardworking people across Virginia have received 3,963,158 Economic Impact Payments totaling $9,456,600,000 in 2021, which Wexton helped secure as part of the American Rescue Plan.

“As we come together to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday, we also celebrate the remarkable progress we've made as a community in our fight against COVID," said Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton. "Thanks to the tireless work of our health care heroes and the commitment of everyday Virginians to get vaccinated, we've reached the milestone of 70% of adult Virginians with at least one dose. With the robust support we've delivered in Congress through the American Rescue Plan, money is going into the pockets of families in need, our kids have safely returned to the classroom, and we're bringing back jobs to our local economy. It is a time to be hopeful as much of our lives returns to a sense of normal. If you still have not gotten your shot, I encourage you to sign up for an appointment at vaccines.gov today, and I'll continue working in Congress to ensure Virginia-10 has a strong and equitable recovery from this crisis.”

  • The American Rescue Plan also sent $45 billion to help states keep child care and Head Start programs open, keep workers on the job, and lower costs for working families, including $793 million for Virginia child care services. Additionally, Head Start providers serving Virginia-10 families are set to receive more than $2.5 million total.

PEOPLE IN JOBS

  • The economy is growing faster than at any time in the last 40 years. 3 million jobs have been created since President Biden took office and unemployment claims have been cut in half.
