Wexton Announces 5,000 Constituent Cases Closed and Unveils New Digital Tool to Streamline Constituent Casework Requests

Sterling, VA -- Today, Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) announced that her office has successfully closed 5,143 constituent cases since taking office in January 2019 and returned $7,587,152 in savings to constituents in Virginia’s 10th District. Wexton’s office also has created a new digital Privacy Release Form available on her website to help simplify the constituent service request process.

“One of the most direct ways I can have an impact on the lives of the Virginians I serve in Congress is through the constituent services that my team and I provide,” said Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton. “I’m proud of the work that we’ve done to return money owed to constituents from the government, assist individuals in navigating the federal agencies, and improve access to critical relief programs during COVID for those in need. My office will always be here as a resource, and I encourage anyone in Virginia-10 who is facing challenges with federal agencies to reach out to us. If we can’t help you directly, we’ll do our best to put you in touch with someone who can.”

Wexton’s office has helped constituents retrieve benefits they are owed by the federal government and navigate many requests or issues with federal agencies, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Wexton and her team have closed 4,137 cases since the beginning of the COVID crisis in March 2020, including helping individuals secure their tax returns and stimulus payments, assisting those stuck abroad during travel restrictions, connecting those who were put out of work with Virginia unemployment resources, and more.

Below are a few testimonials from Virginia-10 constituents who have were assisted by Congresswoman Wexton’s team over the past year:

[Rep. Wexton’s staff] was exceptional. My issue was outstanding for months. I tried repeatedly to get a status and was unable to reach a live person. [Rep. Wexton’s staff] resolved my issue in less than a week.

-- Dominic from Centreville, who received help with their tax refund from the IRS

[Rep. Wexton’s staff] was incredible. From her first email, till everything was finished, she stayed with me every step of the way. Response time was lightning-fast and she cut through IRS "red tape" like a hot knife through butter.

-- Dick from Winchester, who received help getting their stimulus check

Our Husband/father reached out to Rep. Wexton's office to help push through his service diabled/service connected claim. He had tried for many years to get his requests through to no avail... In July of 2019 he had to go onto dialysis for service related kidney damage and in August of the same year we found out he had terminal small cell lung cancer. In a matter of months [Rep. Wexton’s staff] was able to get the paperwork pushed through and help to be the conduit for us… [Rep. Wexton’s staff] was able to have his claims processed, and my father before his passing, began receiving the proper benefits…  My father was so upset with the VA he had decided he did not want military honors -- because of the miracle work of [Rep. Wexton’s staff], my father was able to change his mind and at his service in April was given full military honors -- which meant so much to all of us.

-- Carolyn from Great Falls, who received help securing VA benefits for a family member
