Wexton Announces Proposals Selected for Application to Community Project Funding Program

Washington, DC -- Today, Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton announced the proposals she submitted to the House Appropriations Committee for consideration as part of the Fiscal Year 2022 Community Project Funding program. The Community Project Funding program is designed to deliver targeted federal funding to broadly-supported projects in communities across the country which will help improve the lives of constituents and support economic prosperity.

"The Community Project Funding program provides an opportunity to deliver new targeted federal funding to our district and meet the needs of families and communities in every part of Virginia-10," said Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton. "The projects I've requested would help to restore and rebuild our physical infrastructure, improve critical community services, and invest in new educational and job opportunities. My office worked closely with each of our sixteen towns and counties, local elected officials, and stakeholders to identify worthy projects that would bring the greatest benefit to our communities and have widespread support among local Virginians. I look forward to working as a member of the Appropriations Committee on the next steps of this new federal funding program."

Under guidelines issued by the Appropriations Committee, each Representative may request funding for up to 10 projects in their community for fiscal year 2022 -- although only a handful may actually be funded. Projects are restricted to a limited number of federal funding streams, and only state and local governments and eligible non-profit entities are permitted to receive funding. Additional information on the reforms governing Community Project Funding is available here.

The Appropriations Committee is enforcing a series of reforms to ensure the proper use of the Community Project Funding program, including the public disclosure of all project requests, a ban on for-profit recipients, demonstration of community support, and more. Wexton has certified that she, her spouse, and her immediate family have no financial interest in any of the projects she has requested.
