Wexton Named to House Appropriations Subcommittees
Washington,
January 25, 2021
Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) released the following statement after it was announced that she will serve on three House Appropriations Committee subcommittees: Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies; State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs; and Legislative Branch: “I am honored by today’s appointment to three Appropriations subcommittees and excited to get to work on behalf of Virginia’s 10th District. “Transportation issues are top of mind for every Northern Virginian. As a member of the Transportation and Housing and Urban Development subcommittee, I will push for much-needed investments in WMATA’s operations and safety. We will prioritize funding for our local roads and bridges, rural broadband, expanding access to affordable housing, and rebuilding the country’s crumbling infrastructure. “One of the most pressing issues in the coming years will be restoring America’s leadership on the global stage, and I stand ready to rebuild partnerships with our global allies, restore our nation’s diplomatic corps, and strengthen the global response to the pandemic as a member of the State and Foreign Operations Subcommittee. “One of the first orders of business for our Legislative Branch subcommittee will be getting to the bottom of the security failures which precipitated the January 6th attack on the Capitol. I am eager to be on the frontlines of this effort to ensure that this type of horrific event, which hundreds of my constituents experienced personally while working in and around the Capitol grounds, is never allowed to happen again.” ### |
