Wexton Announces DOT Grant to Winchester Regional Airport

Winchester, VA -- Today the Department of Transportation (DOT) announced a grant of $180,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) to the Winchester Regional Airport Authority. The funds will help construct a taxiway to assist in meeting the operational needs of the airport. Funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) of 2020 also fulfills a 10% state and local match requirement for the grant, increasing the federal share of the funding to 100%.

"Securing funding for our local infrastructure is a top priority for me in Congress,” said Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton. “The Winchester Regional Airport is a critical engine of our local economy and provides important services to the Shenandoah Valley. I’m happy to see the Department of Transportation award the Winchester Regional Airport Authority these funds, and I’ll continue working to ensure all of our district’s roadways, bridges, airports, and other infrastructure projects have the federal support they require to meet the needs of our community."

"We are grateful for the commitment of our federal partners for supporting AIP grants 100% this year.  The ability to move forward with capital improvements ensures critical infrastructure will not become a victim of these uncertain times, and helps our airport continue to meet the aviation needs of the region,” said Nicholas Sabo, Executive Director of the Winchester Regional Airport Authority.
