Wexton Announces New Constituent Service Milestones: 8,500 Cases Closed and Over $15 Million Returned to Taxpayers

Sterling, VA – Today, Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) announced that her office has reached new milestones in her service to the people of Virginia’s 10th Congressional District. Since taking office in January 2019, her team has closed 8,574 cases for constituents and returned nearly $15.3 million owed to taxpayers by the federal government.

“The people of Virginia’s 10th District sent me to Congress to advocate on their behalf and deliver results that improve their everyday lives, and there’s no more direct way I can do just that than through constituent services,” said Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton. “I’m so proud that my team has assisted more than 8,500 constituents in getting the help they need from the federal government, including helping return over $15 million in benefits back to Virginians in CD-10. I want all constituents to know that my office is here to help however we can – if you’re having trouble getting in touch with a federal agency or not getting the results you think you deserve, reach out to us today.”

Congresswoman Wexton’s staff is able to help constituents retrieve benefits they are owed by the federal government and get assistance with federal agencies, particularly if they are unable to get answers in a timely fashion or if they feel they have been treated unfairly. Wexton’s office has had success helping with issues such as Social Security and Medicare, veterans’ benefits, IRS issues, passports and visas, small business assistance, and federal grants and loans. More information about services Wexton’s office may be able to assist with can be found here. While Wexton’s office cannot always guarantee constituents a favorable outcome, staff will always work to ensure constituents receive a fair and timely response to their problem.

Below are a few testimonials from Virginia-10 constituents who have been assisted by Congresswoman Wexton’s team over the past year:

“Very responsive and anxious to assist. This is the first time I sought assistance at the Congressional level and was most pleasantly surprised.”

– Stephen from Winchester, who sought help getting information from the Veterans Administration

“After more than four years of waiting for a government agency to pay an overdue judgment awarded by EEOC I became discouraged and lost hope that I would get paid. I contacted Rep. Wexton's office and asked for help. A member of Rep. Wexton's staff… assisted in my matter. [Wexton’s staff] responded to all my questions and concerns with tact, professionalism, and understanding. Her efforts resulted in the agency complying with the EEOC order.”

– Marina from Clifton, who sought help getting payment of overdue back pay

“Rep. Wexton and her staff worked with me to resolve our issue and also followed up with SBA a second time. I am so impressed!”

– Betsy from Clarke County, who sought help with an SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL)
