Rep. Wexton Attends Substance Abuse Coalition Meeting in Winchester
Rep. Wexton participated in the Northern Shenandoah Valley Substance Abuse Coalition's monthly meeting in Winchester on Thursday, taking notes and questions from the array of treatment providers, school administrators, law enforcement, and recovering addicts who were in attendance. Wexton acknowledged the importance of putting more federal funding towards proven successful programs like having police officers carry the life-saving overdose andidote naloxone. Discussion also focused on preventing drugs from entering the country, and Rep. Wexton addressed the House Democrats' plans for comprehensive and effective border security measures, including improved technology at ports of entry and increasing finding for Customs and Border Protection and Coast Guard personnel.
